Computer Usage at the Library:

  • The Library has desktop computers and circulating laptops that are equipped with internet access and Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • iPads with fun and educational games are available in our children's areas.
  • Wireless internet access is available to the public.

Printing and Copying:

  • We are happy to offer the first 10 printed pages for free each day. An additional $0.10 per page will be charged thereafter. We can only take cash or check; please pay at the Circulation Desk.
  • There is are color copiers and printers at both library buildings. 
Technology Appointments

The Dedham Public Library offers one-on-one appointments with librarians to assist patrons with their technology needs.

Faxing:

While we no longer provide in-house faxing, there are a number of free, online fax resources. To assist in online faxing, we do have a scanner on site for your use.

3D Printing:

  • The Main Library has the following machines and maximum dimensions:
    • LulzBot Taz 6 – 280mm x 280mm x 250mm (11” x 11” x 9.8”)
    • LulzBot Mini – 152mmx152mmx158mm (6” x 6” x 6.2”)
    • LulzBot Mini 2 – 160mm x 160mm x 180mm (6.30″ x 6.30″ x 7.09″)
  • The Library uses the following filament:
    • 2.85mm PLA (Polylactic Acid) – This filament starts out as a starch that is extracted from plants, goes through a fermentation process to create a product that resembles petroleum-based plastic.
  • To submit a file for printing, email the following information to 3ddedham@minlib.net:
    • Email subject: 3D Print Request
    • Name
    • Library Card Number
    • Short description of the object
    • Attach the .STL file
    • Please note, all items will be printed with grey filament unless a 2.85mm PLA filament spool is provided by the requestor.
    • Printed supports will be left on the object.
    • You will receive an email when the item is ready for pickup.
  • Cost for printing:
    • Free, but with limitations.
  • Where can I find 3d print samples online?
    • Thingiverse.com – A site containing objects for 3D printers, CNC machines, and laser cutters.
    • Cults3d.com – A site for 3D models for 3D printers
    • You can also visit Tinkercad.com to create your own digital object for printing.
